Sultan Ahmet Mosque (The Blue Mosque)
Known for its stunning blue İznik tiles, the Blue Mosque is one of Istanbul’s most beautiful landmarks. Built in the early 1600s, its elegant domes and minarets define the city’s skyline.
Ayasofya Mosque (Hagia Sophia Museum)
A masterpiece of Byzantine architecture, Hagia Sophia has served as a church, a mosque, and a museum. Since 2020, it has reopened as a mosque — a timeless symbol of Istanbul’s layered history.
Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan)
Hidden beneath the city, this mysterious underground reservoir was built in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian. With its atmospheric lighting and famous Medusa Heads, it’s one of Istanbul’s most fascinating sights.
Sultanahmet Square (Hippodrome of Constantinople)
Once the grand stadium of ancient Constantinople, the Hippodrome hosted chariot races and celebrations. Today, it’s Sultanahmet Square, surrounded by monuments like the Obelisk of Theodosius and the German Fountain.
Istanbul Archaeological Museums
One of the most important museum complexes in Türkiye, the Istanbul Archaeological Museums house over one million artifacts from various civilizations — including ancient Greek, Roman, and Ottoman treasures. The famous Alexander Sarcophagus and Treaty of Kadesh, the world’s first known peace treaty, are among its highlights.
